This coin is called the "Tribute Penny" that is, "Tribute Denarius", because it is supposed to be the coin to which Jesus Christ referred when discussing the payment of tributes to Rome - he said the famous phrase: "Give to the Caesar what is Caesar's and God what is God's.." (Matthew 22.17-21 and Mark 12.15). The term "penny" was used in King James' 1611 translation of the Bible.
